Our company, located in the city of Szeged lying on the banks of River Tisza, has contributed to the assembly of IKARUS buses for over 30 years with its supply of parts. These vehicles are utilised in local, medium- and long-distance services in over 50 countries in the world.
IKARUS Szegedi Alkatrészgyártó Kft was established by IKARUS Járműgyártó Rt in 1993, with the founder as exclusive owner. The company has been operating in the industry since 1950. The manufacturing of autobus parts was commenced in 1976.

     Currently, the major field of activities of IKARUS Kft is the manufacturing of components for highway and railway vehicles (doors, separating walls, mirrors, mirror holders, stairs, repair hole covers, ventilating holes, blinds, dehumidifier devices, balance tanks for cooling systems, complete handhold appliances, etc.).
In the course of production, in addition to metalworking, glass, rubber, plastic and other materials are also worked and installed. In addition to the above, IKARUS Kft also produces special metal cabinets and other welded structures and tanks (of aluminium, normal steel or stainless steel), which may be utilised in the manufacturing of an extensive range of electrical engineering, heating technology and repair appliances.

     In 1995, IKARUS Kft was awarded the ISO 9001 quality assurance certificate, which guarantees the outstanding quality of its products. In the second half of 2003, we are going to obtain the Quality Assurance and Environmental control system qualifications MSZ EN ISO 9001:2001 and MSZ EN ISO 14001:1997. Furthermore, the company is qualified as meeting the requirements of welding plant class MSZ EN 729 and a staff of 10 certified welders.

     With respect to its business partners, IKARUS Kft always supplies according to the ‘JUST IN TIME’ system. In order to support this effort, 9,000 m² of production area, 4,000 m² of ancillary and warehousing area and 7,000 m² of loading and storage area are available at the 74,000 m² site of the business, located in the industrial district of Szeged.

     IKARUS Kft is prepared to perform a wide range of machine building tasks. After cutting or fine plasma arc cutting, we are capable of further chipping, pressing, and shaping in addition to surface preparation, painting or dust lacquering as well as providing complete assembly.

     Our design staff are prepared both to develop and modernise our own products and to develop new products based on customer feedback, as a number of successful cooperative projects with IkarusBus, Nabi and Mercedes prove. Our designers are supported in their work by modern computers and the Cadkey 19s and Pro/ENGINEER software. These applications enable them to transform changing customer requirements into suitable solutions in a fast, flexible and creative manner.      The total headcount of blue- and white-collar workers at IKARUS Kft is 240, which may be expanded at any time, according to market necessities. The continuous training of our staff guarantee development and long-term competitiveness.
